Through an online contest, Angel MedFlight provided a chance for participants to bring a loved one home for the holidays. In a heartfelt essay, Lori McFate nominated Michael Henkel of Germany, who saved her life by donating bone marrow. Lori was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma (cancer of the blood) and had exhausted all treatments options. She desperately needed a bone marrow transplant and – halfway around the world – Michael was a perfect match. The two considered each other “family,” but had never met. See Angel MedFlight make Lori’s dream come true by bringing Michael to Iowa.
