Amy shares her air ambulance patient experience

Every moment counts when you’re helping patients reach life-changing care

Amy Van Dyken-Rouen was in a severe ATV accident on June 6th 2014. When her husband Tom found her face-down she wasn’t breathing. Tom slowly turned her over and raised up on her air pipe and she began gasping for air. Amy and Tom were told she might not survive her surgery. When she did, the six-time Olympic gold medalist and her husband knew she would need the best possible rehabilitation to start living her new life – that’s when they met Angel MedFlight.

“Tom had been making calls to different air ambulance places, I couldn't fly commercially. Angel MedFlight said, ‘Stop Tom, we'll take care of everything.’ I could see the relief on his face. Tom and I didn't know if we had coverage for air ambulance services. Angel MedFlight looked into my benefits and worked with my insurance, and I didn't have to worry about a single thing. If it wasn't for Angel MedFlight I'm not sure how I would have gotten to rehab.”
