Andrew Bess brings his experience in operations, revenue cycle management and finance to Angel MedFlight. As Chief Operating Officer, Andrew partners with our departments to ensure Angel MedFlight's strategy is aligned and operational execution is achieved. Andrew brings innovative thinking and a laser-like focus to process improvement and best-practice creation. Before joining Angel MedFlight, Andrew worked across the country in the hospital consulting space and physician practice plans, specializing in revenue cycle and healthcare operations management. Andrew's enthusiasm, persistence and down-to-earth style has allowed him to apply his subject matter expertise to help teams throughout our company. Andrew holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and English and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona. He is married and the proud father of two children.

Before joining Angel MedFlight, Bambi worked in Texas and Arizona in various nursing roles specializing in critical care, education, and leadership. Bambi is a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve holding the rank of Commander where she works as the Regional Detachment Director for EMF Dallas One.
Bambi holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, a Master's degree in nursing leadership from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, a Post-Masters Certificate in Health Care Administration and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University. Bambi is certified in Critical Care and Flight Nursing (CCRN/CFRN). She is married with five children.
Matthew Butler EMT-P Director of Flight Operations
Matthew Butler is a fourth generation native to Arizona. He has worked within the paramedic community as a National Registered Paramedic for over 10 years. At Angel MedFlight, Matthew operated in the field as a flight paramedic for over four years before deciding to settle down and raise a family. During his tenure on the road, Matthew personally completed hundreds of missions and transferred patients to facilities all over the world.
Equipped with years of first-hand experience in the air, Matthew understands the delicate needs of our patients and families. His knowledge with ground and air medical transport has brought an unmatched level of expertise to flight coordination. Matthew understands the clinical process as well as the case management aspect of flight coordination.
During his free time he enjoys raising his one-year-old son with his wife.
Shelley Schlossberg Director of Human Resources
Joining Angel MedFlight in July 2014, Shelley brings nineteen years of human resources experience in healthcare. Her professional background includes benefit management, policy design, employee management, compliance reporting and recruitment. During her tenure, Shelley has partnered with AMF leadership to facilitate positive change company wide, and has been instrumental in the development and sustainment of a diverse and inclusive culture. Her many strengths include employee advocacy, leadership development and promotion of professional equity. Shelley's main focus has been on policy and procedure refinement, process improvement, employee relations and performance management. Prior to joining AMF, Shelley was a Human Resources Manager at Health Management Associates in Naples, Florida. Her responsibilities included recruitment, employee engagement, as well as assisting hospital HR departments with employee relations and benefit inquiries. Shelley holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The University of Alabama. She is married and has four children.John Shufeldt Medical Director
John Shufeldt received his BA from Drake University in 1978 and his MD from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1986. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in 1989, where he spent his final year as Chief Resident. John received his MBA in 1995, and his Juris Doctorate in 2005, both from Arizona State University, and is admitted to the Arizona District Court, the Federal District Court and Supreme Court Bars. His certifications include Fellow, American Board of Emergency Medicine; Fellow, College of Legal Medicine; and American College of Emergency Physicians. He founded NextCare Inc. in 1993 as well as numerous other health and non-healthcare businesses. He served as NextCare’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board until 2010. Under John’s leadership, NextCare grew from a single clinic to fifty-eight clinics in six states with annualized revenue of nearly $100 million. He is one of the founding partners of Empower Emergency Physicians and continues to practice emergency medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. John is also a member of the Phoenix Police SWAT team. He is President of the Board of the Men’s Anti-violence Network, and serves on the Drake University Board of Trustees and the Sandra Day O’Conner College of Law Alumni Board. John has authored and co-authored books on Children’s Emergencies and Contract Issues for Emergency Medicine Physicians. His most recent book is “Ingredients of Outliers, A Recipe for Personal Achievement.” He writes and lectures on a variety of subject matters to graduate-level medical, business and law students. He is the Health Law Editor and on the Advisory Board for the Journal of Urgent Care Medicine and was the Editor in Chief of Urgent Care Alert and ED Legal Bulletin. He is an adjunct professor at the Arizona State University, W.P. Carey School of Business where he teaches Health Law and Ethics to MBA and Health Sector Management students. John is also an adjunct professor at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law where he teaches a seminar on Health Law Entrepreneurism.

As the Medical Director for Angel MedFlight, Dr. Burns provides consultation and direction to the medical staff. Her attention to detail to deliver superior medical service to patients is top priority. Dr. Burns earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from UCLA School of Medicine and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. When not working with Angel MedFlight, she works clinical shifts in the St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Department. Dr. Burns earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from UCLA School of Medicine and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. When not working with Angel MedFlight, she works clinical shifts in the St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Department. In her personal time, she enjoys hiking, running, playing tennis, and spending time with her sons.
