Pouring Out from Within – Celebrating National Case Management Week

BY Angel MedFlight
A Case Manager shows compassion

Representing Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance, our teams have the distinct privilege to connect with, and support, hundreds of case managers from East to West, from North to South and from all parts in-between this beautiful country of ours. Taking time to recognize and honor healthcare professionals during National Case Management Week is as much a celebration for us.

Advocates and Catalysts

In 2013, Arkansas Senators Mark Pryor (D) and John Boozman (R), in collaboration with the American Case Management Association (ACMA) and the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), introduced Senate Resolution 214 (S. Res. 214), declaring the second full week of October as “National Case Management Week”. Unanimously supported and passed by the U.S. Senate, this resolution recognizes that "case managers are advocates who help patients understand their current health status and ways to improve their health, and in this way serve as catalysts who guide patients and provide cohesion with other professionals on the healthcare delivery team". Case managers are a critical link to quality healthcare.

Now in its sixth year, Senator Boozman continues to make this resolution a priority. In so doing, the profession of case management continues to be brought forth into a greater light of awareness.

Your Cup Overflows

It only takes a minute, or less, to see how invested professional case managers are to their practice. The depth of love, grace, and gratitude extended by case managers to each of their patients, and the patient’s family, is a sight to behold.

Personalizing this statement further, you give selflessly! Remarkably, with all your responsibilities, you continue to have the capacity to pour out from within.

Daily responsibilities of case managers can include:

  • Identifying patient caseload
  • Utilization review
  • Coordinating care for the patient in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary team
  • Process improvement through developing clear and specific care pathways
  • Working with the hospital’s Quality Department to ensure Core Measure Indicators are met
  • Understanding the Clinical Documentation Improvement process

How can it be when you have little time in the day to take a break, eat a meal, or even go to the restroom, you still have the ability to squeeze out a bit more on the giving scale? True are the words “your cup overflows” as you continue to have enough supply for others.

You Honor Us With Your Partnership

Our business development team has an opportunity to be a face as we travel to meet you where you are; conferences, in-services, and vendor fairs.

Our flight coordination team has an opportunity to be a voice, 24 hours a day / 365 days a year when you call in. This affords us the opportunity to partner with you in coordinating the safe, seamless air medical transfer of your patient.

Our clinical team, both face and voice, has an opportunity to be an extension of the excellent work you do each and every day as you entrust your patient into their hands.

During National Case Management Week, October 13-19, our team joins the American Case Management Association (ACMA) and the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) in bringing attention to the significant contributions made by professional case managers every single day.

Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance is taking this moment to celebrate each of you publicly and say, “Thank You.” We are honored to partner with you.
